New Volunteer Baker Info

Welcome Baker! Thanks for helping to put smiles on the faces of kids in our community that could use a helping hand.

So, now that you are on our list of volunteer bakers, what can you expect next?

REQUESTS FOR BAKED ITEMS

When one of our member organizations submits a request for a cake, pie, or other baked item for a child's birthday or a baby shower, the request will be posted on this Forum (under the "Baking Requests" category).

You can view the details about the request in this forum. The request will also appear on our Facebook Group page.

If you are interested in volunteering for the project, simply leave a comment/reply on that post (in either this forum or on Facebook).

A baker will be selected based on both a rotation and first-some-first-served basis. We want to be sure all bakers have the opportunity to volunteer, while still ensuring we confirm a baker in a timely manner. We will post on this forum and on Facebook the chosen baker. The chosen baker will also receive an email confirming the details.

COST OF SUPPLIES AND INGREDIENTS

The Agape Cake Club is made up of volunteer bakers. We are not a business or a registered non-profit so we have absolutely no income or budget. We depend on the generosity of our volunteer bakers in both time and supplies in order to fulfill the birthday wishes of children in need in our community. That means that by volunteering to take on a project, you are also agreeing to purchase all ingredients and supplies needed to create the cake, pie or other baked items. Bakers do not need to supply plates, napkins or flatware, but we DO ask that you provide candles (you will be given the age of the child). You do not need to supply matches or lighters.

The purchase of your ingredients and supplies as well as gas mileage for delivery MAY be tax-deductible as a charitable donation. Be sure to save your receipts and check with a tax professional to ask if any of these costs are deductible.

TRANSPORTATION

We also depend on our bakers to transport your baked creations to the event location. The deadline date and time, along with the address and location details, will be provided in the original posted request so you will know in advance if it is something you are able to do. It's always nice to be able to see the smiles on the faces of the folks at the organization we serve, as you deliver your baked creations, however, if for some reason, transportation becomes a challenge due to unforeseen circumstances, just call or text Jennifer at 7654-413-5531 as soon as possible to arrange an alternative solution.

RECIPES

There is no one official recipe for any of the baked items. The child will select a baked good type (cake, pie, cookies, bars), a flavor and a theme. From there, you can use whatever recipe you like best! There is also a Favorite Recipe category in this forum where you can view other baker's favorite recipes. Be sure to comment on your favorites and add your own recipes.

PHOTOS

Be sure to take photos of your finished baked creations and email or text them to Jennifer at 765-413-5531 rhorer.jennifer@gmail.com or post them in the forum or on Facebook.

COMMITMENT

You can volunteer for as many or as few projects as you'd like. If at any point you'd like to be removed from the volunteer baker list, simply let us know by emailing or texting Jennifer at 765-413-5531 rhorer.jennifer@gmail.com . You will not be asked any questions and you can rejoin anytime. If, however, you have any helpful suggestions that would make this club more successful, we most certainly welcome any and all feedback.
